What will we visit?
We depart around 9:00 am along Montevideo's coastline heading east on Route Interbalnearia for 120 km (1.5 hours of travel) until we reach Punta Ballena. This beautiful place is known for its breathtaking panoramic view of the city of Punta del Este and its surroundings. We will visit the Casa Pueblo museum, the residence of the world-renowned visual artist Carlos Páez Vilaró. The museum offers a spectacular panoramic view and is famous for its charming sunsets.
Continuing on to Punta del Este, we will drive along the waterfront until we reach the city's main hotel, named 'Hotel Conrad'. This hotel is one of the favorites among Brazilian tourists due to its excellent 24-hour casino. We will continue the tour by visiting the costanera's gazebo, ideal for taking photos of Playa Mansa, Isla Gorriti, and the port. Our next stop will be at the Yacht Port, known for hosting luxurious yachts from all over the world. Another tourist attraction within the port area is the friendly sea lions that reside there year-round.
Arriving at the tip of the city, we encounter the Lighthouse (built in 1860), the Church of Candelaria (built in 1942), and Punta de Salinas, the meeting point between the Río de la Plata and the Atlantic Ocean.
We continue along the waterfront, skirting the city until we reach Playa Brava, globally renowned for the sculpture of a hand emerging from the sand, created by Chilean sculptor Mario Irarrázabal in 1981. The hand represents humanity emerging into life. After our stop at the sculpture, we proceed along the waterfront, passing through the San Rafael neighborhood, known for its mansions and large gardens, until we arrive at the Barra Bridge, distinguished by its wavy design. The bridge was inaugurated in 1956 and crosses the Arroyo Maldonado.
Next, we head to the residential neighborhoods of Beverly Hills and Golf, where the most luxurious mansions in the city are located, before reaching Gorlero Avenue, the main avenue and center of Punta del Este. Here, you will have free time for lunch and exploring before departing for Montevideo at approximately 4:00 pm.
If desired, you can arrange in advance to visit Casa Pueblo museum once more to appreciate the sunset before concluding the tour.
